LEADERSHIP DAYS

An important purpose of Leadership Day is to invite parents, business partners, and educators from other schools to come learn about and see our school’s unique leadership model, as well as to provide an opportunity for our staff and students to share their leadership insights and experiences with those who attend our Leadership Day.  Twice each year we are joined by guests to share all of our work with the 7 Habits and our commitment toward being a Leader in Me Lighthouse School.  Participants gain a better understanding of the 7 Habits and how they are incorporated into our daily learning, witness student achievement through data notebooks and discover the joys of being a Leader in Me school. They also witness our students as leaders; by giving presentations, singing songs, acting as wait staff and host/hostess, greeting guests and sharing their academic data notebooks.

Our staff is always proud of the synergy that takes place for each Leadership Day event.  We have teachers working over-time, custodians moving tables and library shelves, computer technicians checking equipment, secretaries handling pre-registrations and name badges, parents checking in coats, setting up lunches, providing extra hands at the student lunch and assisting in classrooms.  But mostly, we are so proud of our students!  They help plan and organize the day, decorate, greet adults, share their academic and personal goals, and much more! They truly shine!

Our first Leadership Day will always hold a special memory for us as it is the day we were recognized as a Franklin Covey Lighthouse School, one of only 14 schools  in the world at that time to achieve this distinction, and the only Lighthouse School in Michigan!  In order to achieve this prestigious honor, schools have not only participated in the process of implementing The Leader in Me (which Beaumont was proudly able to complete in only one year!) but have achieved extraordinary results and are models of excellence for other schools.  It is the goal of every Leader in Me School to achieve transformational results and to qualify for Lighthouse School status by meeting a set of rigorous requirements.  To be a Lighthouse School you need to be exemplary in nine categories: Teacher Leadership Team, Leadership Environment, Instruction, Staff Collaboration, Student Leadership, Parent Involvement, Goal tracking, Measurable Results, and Successful Leadership Events.  Please click on the link to the attached document for more information.
